Livestock Show Meeting

We will be holding a meeting for anyone interested in showing an animal through the Paris FFA Chapter on September 21st. There will be 2 time options: 4pm or 5:30pm. It will be held at the Paris High Ag Shop. We look forward to seeing y'all!!!

We are beyond excited for all this year has to offer. Below are the upcoming Chapter FFA meetings. This year all meetings will be held on a Tuesday Night, at the Paris High Ag Building, and will start at 4pm

 

September 14th- 

 Theme: FFA Fun Night Game: Cornhole Tournament/Slippery Slide Kick Ball Food: Burgers and Popsicle

October 5th-

Theme: Halloween Games: Costume Contest/Pumpkin Carving Food: Nachos

November 9th-

Theme:70's Theme/Gaming Party Games: Tie Dye Shirts/Xbox and PlayStation Food: Pizza

December 7th-

Theme: Christmas Game: Ugly Sweater Contest/Gingerbread House Build Food: Stew/Sweets

2019 Lamar County Junior Livestock Show

3 Paris FFA members showed their Livestock at the the 2019 County Show. All 3 made the sale! Congratulations to Savanna Sandor, 5th place goat; Lexi Hines, 3rd place lamb; and Arielle Finch, 5th place lamb. Good luck tonight in the market animal sale!

Paris FFA made PSA's on the radio, greeted Little Wildcats at Aikin, attended the Lamar County Commissioner's Court Meeting, presented at the Kiwanis Club of Paris Meeting, visited Advisory Members, and prepared and and served an Appreciation Breakfast. All in all it was a great week, with a great group of kids, promoting a great organization!

Texas Scholar Ferns!

Paris Ag/FFA Department provides the ferns for the Texas Scholar Luncheon/Program again this year. Mr. Merritt and the Paris Ag Department greenhouse grew some beautiful ferns this year. Mr. Merritt delivered the ferns early this morning for setup and then picked them up this afternoon after the luncheon. Mr. Merritt and all the students who worked in the greenhouse have done an excellent job! Be looking for the ferns again at Paris High School's graduation in June!

 
Paris FFA at Kiwanis Club Meeting 4/19/2016

On April 19, 2016, Paris FFA was invited to speak at the Kiwanis Club meeting held in the PJC Ballroom. The presentation was an overview of "what's happening" in the Paris Ag/FFA Department. Look back at the Paris FFA Updates and that's pretty much the content of the presentation. Chapter President Tieren Gates and Chapter Advisor Hayden McFadden did an EXCELLENT job of letting the Kiwanis Club members know what Paris FFA is about.

Ag Mech Classes hard at work!!

Mr. Merritt and the students in the Ag Mech classes get done with one project and move on to the next one! Paris FFA is currently working on two major projects. The first, Mech classes are constructing new benches for the Paris Jr High School campus. The PJH PTO approached the Ag department about building the benches and we were happy to take on the project.

The second project is reconstructing the floor in a livestock trailer belonging to an Ag/FFA parent.As you can see from the picture below the Mech classes have "gutted" the bottom of the trailer and starting the rebuild part of the project. Lots happening in the PHS Ag building!!

Bunny Rabbits visit Givens Discovery Center

Principles of Ag Class Plants Garden

Monday, March 28, 2016, Mr. Tucker's 7th period Principles of Ag class planted tomato and pepper plants in the raised bed garden behind the Ag building. The students will care for the plants daily and get to enjoy the harvest.

Tulsa Welding School visits Paris Ag Department

On Tuesday, March 23, 2016, Nate Rice from Tulsa Welding School visited the Ag Mech classes at Paris High School. Mr. Rice gave a presentation to the students about everything that Tulsa Welding School has to offer.

PJH and PHS students participated in the TPWD Special Youth Hunt on January 22-23, 2016. We would like to thank our Land Owner, Mr. Jay Anthony, and Paris Farm & Ranch for loaning us a Kubota RTV side by side to use.

Although neither Bryson or Walker harvested an animal we had a very successful weekend!
